How long have you been working with metal ? What first attracted you to metal work ? 
Was there a defining moment or experience that set you on this path ?
금속 작업은 얼마나 오래 하셨나요? 처음 금속공예에 매료된 계기는 무엇인가요? 이 길을 걷게 된 결정적인 순간이나 경험이 있었나요?
“ I started working 30 years ago to make a living. At first I was curious and fascinated by the idea that aluminium could be cut, so I decided to give it a try. Back when I was young, the main industry in Korea was focused on industrial development. That lead me on this path.”" 저는 30년 전에 생계를 위해 일을 시작했습니다. 처음에는 알루미늄을 절단할 수 있다는 아이디어에 호기심과 매료되어 도전해 보기로 결심했습니다. 제가 어렸을 때만 해도 한국의 주요 산업은 산업 개발에 집중되어 있었습니다. 그게 저를 이 길로 이끌었습니다."




What skills are important for a metal maker ? 
금속 작업자에게 중요한 기술은 무엇인가요 ?
“ I’m not really sure... I just do my best and put all my effort in each task as they come.”
" 잘 모르겠어요... 그저 주어진 업무에 최선을 다하고 모든 노력을 다할 뿐입니다."
What do you find the most frustrating about working with metal ? What’s exciting ?
금속 작업에서 가장 답답한 점은 무엇인가요 ? 흥미로운 점은 무엇인가요?

“Suddenly thinking about it, I’m not sure haha.. I don’t think there is anything in particular ? I’ve always received processing requests for industrial technology, but this time with Text Sandwich, creating something for everyday use is interesting and exciting."갑자기 생각해보니 잘 모르겠네요.... 특별한 게 있는 건 아닌 것 같아요? 항상 산업 기술에 대한 가공 의뢰를 받아왔지만, 이번 텍스트 샌드위치를 통해 일상에서 사용할 수 있는 무언가를 만드는 것이 흥미롭고 신기합니다."





What steps do you take to ensure high quality work ? 
고품질 작업을 위해 어떤 조치를 취하나요 ?
“When I first learn metal work, it was really difficule. But back then, I was young, full of passion and determination, so I kept pushing myself. Before I knew it, more than 30 years had passed. It’s fun but at this point the actions and gestures of working with aluminium have become a second nature to me. Well...it’s still fun though. 
"처음 금속 세공을 배울 때는 정말 어려웠습니다. 하지만 그때는 젊었고 열정과 의지로 가득 차 있었기 때문에 계속 밀어붙였죠. 그러다 보니 어느새 30년 이상이 지났어요. 이젠 알루미늄을 다루는 동작과 제스처가 제게 제2의 천성이 되었어요. 그래도 여전히 재미있어요.”

What do you like about working with Text Sandwich ?
텍스트 샌드위치 작업의 어떤 점이 마음에 드나요 ? 작업하면서 어려운 점이 있었나요 ?
“The charm of Text Sandwich is that I received requests to create aluminium for everyday use, which is really interesting ! Haveing worked with aluminium for over 30 years, it isn’t difficult at all - it’s actually very easy. However, I was a but concerned about fingerprints and scratches occuring during the production process. But I think that’s what makes it unique and give it its charm.”
"텍스트 샌드위치의 매력은 일상에서 사용할 수 있는 알루미늄을 만들어 달라는 요청을 많이 받는다는 점이에요. 30년 넘게 알루미늄을 다뤄왔기 때문에 전혀 어렵지 않고 사실 매우 쉽습니다. 하지만 제작 과정에서 지문이나 스크래치가 생길까 봐 걱정이 되긴 했어요. 하지만 바로 그 점이 알루미늄을 독특하게 만들고 매력을 주는 것 같아요."
